We thought it would be fun to cover our own track, “Racing The Sunrise”, using preset sounds from the Korg Volca FM 2. This inexpensive FM synth is capable of reproducing some great vintage 80’s sounds, including those from the legendary Yamaha DX7.

All of the sounds on this cover version come from the volca fm 2 apart for the drums and the background sound design parts (rises and ambient beach sounds, etc.).
The lead, basses, synths and sequences, etc. are all direct from the volca fm 2 (reverb, delay, EQ and compression have been applied at mixdown).
Note that the volca fm 2 isn’t multitimbral, and can only play one voice at a time (with a maximum of 6 voice polyphony). You’d need about 16 Volca FM 2s to reproduce this live!.
